Kona 2020: Week 17 (CTL: 102.3; TSS: 1030.8)

Week 17 (ending April 30th): I am so happy that this week is done. It was all about of increased volume. One of my biggest challenges is keeping steady over longer bike rides. The sessions right now is not about how fast I can accomplish this… it is just simply managing to do them. I knew I had to do three long rides on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday…

…and so the day begins.

I also have to return to the swim… add more swimming again… which means I have to manage swims on the same days as the long rides… Manged to do Monday and Wednesday for the swim… but listening to the body it was not ready to throw in the Friday swim (and the commute ride to the pool).

The commute ride to the pool is used as a recovery spin… For me, it was such a volume already this week… I could not manage to do even this recovery spin.

The plan can change when something gets thrown in that is not expected to be part of the plan…life

When I coach I often do the sessions with the client… this adds training stress… earlier in the week I had a few sessions with a client… and this added to the Training Stress Score. I can not risk over burdening the body… I can not risk injury…

the body needed more recovery towards the end of the week… So I simply gave it… but I know that more volume will come in the future… I am just not there…yet.

Over the weekend managed to help my bike with a bit of its own recovery… replaced the bearings in the headset.  The 10 year old bike survives…

Next week (Week 18) is a lower volume week…
