Kona 2020: Week 20, 21, & 22 (CTL: 109.2)

Half way through the 1st annual training plan… focus is shifting… from weight loss and simple volume increase to…

to the more technical…improved force production and cadence.

The last three weeks ¬†turned out different then expected, but worked out just as well…

Plan was to increase the volume the body can handle by adding more swimming and running to the already increasing cycling…

But the circumstances did not allow for spending that much time away from the apartment… wife had to go to Europe for the first two weeks and it was just Monty and me… with those puppy eyes… I could not leave him alone so long…

So refocused on the first goal of training… bringing my weight down. I managed to drop the last bit of weight down to 130.8 from 151.4 lbs when I started this project (took about 20 weeks)… managed to do this with the low intensity running and a bit of reduced calories… I don’t like losing weight… its difficult.

I decided to maintain the CTL… maintain the volume for the few weeks… volume was in running and not in cycling these weeks… It does not show on the charts the amount of stress that happens when the body drops the calories while maintaining volume…

I also managed to get some ocean swimming in…

Starting to pay attention how conditions affect the ocean swim… wind speed/direction… high/low tide… how all of it plays a role in ocean swimming.

With having reached the 1st goal and Janet returning from Europe during the third week… and about 23 weeks left to the completion of year One annual training plan it is time to refocus for new goals….

It is time to tighten up the form in movement…improve force production… cadence…
